(English) Hi, I'm Joanna Foliveli, a French illustrator and writer working in Toulouse, in a rather old-fashioned way.
I use watercolours, cotton based papers, pen and ink diluted in water. Sometimes, I also work with pencils only.
As a trans creator who grew up near medieval villages carved in stone, like Rocamadour (my workplace, La Forge, is based really near this beautiful place), I like to mix religious and spiritual imagery from the past with contemporary queer lives. In some ways, each of my drawings are thought as prayers or even spells. Each and every one of them are carefully made, and well protected when prepared for shipping.
In 2022, my first comic book : Devenir (Becoming), got published by Deux Points Editions. It is still available on their bigcartel if you want to take a look, and it is also possible to ask your local librarian to order it. I'm not selling it myself, as it is not a self-published book. It's the same for Humaine (Human), published in 2024, and De ton Brûlant toucher (From your burning touch), published in 2026 with Labrys.

(Français) Hello ! Je suis Joanna Folivéli, illustratrice et autrice de bd travaillant à Toulouse.
J'utilise des aquarelles, du papier à base de coton, de la plume et de l'encre. Parfois, je travaille seulement au crayon.
En tant que créatrice trans ayant grandi entourée de villages médiévaux, comme Rocamadour (pas loin d'où se trouve mon atelier : La Forge), j'aime mélanger des thème spirituels ou religieux avec les vies queers d'aujourd'hui. D'une certaine manière, je conçois chaque dessin comme une prière ou même des sorts. Chacun d'eux est réalisé avec le plus grand soin, et bien protégé lors des envois postaux.
En 2022, j'ai sorti mon premier livre : Devenir, aux éditions Deux Points. Il est toujours disponible sur leur Bigcartel, et il est également possible de demander à votre libraire de le commander. Je ne le vends pas moi-même parce qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une auto-publication. C'est aussi le cas pour Humaine (2024) et De ton Brûlant toucher (2026), ce dernier étant aux éditions Labrys !
